  • Sustainable Future

Creating an understanding of how we can achieve a sustainable future for our Town and its citizens is now at the heart of the Society`s activities.

    Sustainable Future
  • Excellence in Planning

One of the most important activities of the Civic Society is to engage with the planning system as it formulates plans which affect our localities and as it takes decisions on planning applications

    Excellence in Planning
  • Promoting Heritage

Heritage is the name we give to what we inherit from the past. Heritage is the memory of what has taken place, the things we did and the choices we made that appear in our present lives as traces of that past.

Making Marple Better - Together

Everyone in Marple, residents young and old, businesses and community groups, can help to identify our challenges and offer ideas for tackling them. We believe that working together to adapt to the changing world is the way to create a healthier, happier and more sustainable community for ourselves and for future generations.

Marple is a small town located on the River Goyt to the south east of Manchester, which is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester. The 'sense of place' and the kind of ‘future’ the Society would like to promote is not limited to the town of Marple but includes the surrounding areas of Marple Bridge, Ludworth, Mellor, Compstall, High Lane, Hawk Green and Strines.
